Crack reinforcement
The load-bearing capacity, serviceability and durability of concrete of concrete components can be impaired by cracks. A distinction is made between cracks due to the processing and properties of the concrete (e.g. shrinkage cracks) and cracks due to external forces or constraints (e.g. bending cracks). Cracks cannot generally be avoided, but they are not fundamentally harmful either. The width of the cracks must simply be limited to a harmless level, or the crack must be closed according to plan.
