Bruck/Mur junction
On March 28, ASFINAG began the complex renovation of the Bruck/Mur junction, which links the S 6 Semmering expressway with the S 35 Brucker expressway. The ramps, three water protection systems, four bridges (built in 1982/1983) and three supporting structures will be renewed in two construction phases. STRABAG AG, together with the planners involved, decided to add shotcrete to the retaining structures. The solidian glass textile reinforcement was selected. solidian GRID Q49/49 AAE-38 as level reinforcement and solidian corner Q49/49-AAE-38 as form reinforcement are the subject of the supplementary layer applied and support a long-term function of all concrete surfaces exposed to the elements.

Swimming pool reinforced with solidian ANTICRACK
In connection with a water damage that had occurred in a swimming pool, increased requirements were placed on the crack width limitation of the new floor slab in the subsequent restoration concept. This high demand was met by solidian ANTICRACK Q47-CCE-38 in a two-layer design.
U-profiles made of epoxy resin impregnated carbon fiber (solidian FORM) were used to space the two reinforcement layers exactly and to keep them in position during concreting. The reinforcement installation, as well as the subsequent concreting, took place absolutely smoothly in the shortest possible time.

Schwaderlocher Steg in Albbruck
After 84 years of Schwaderlocher Steg in Albbruck, this year the ERNE AG Bauunternehmung renovates the dilapidated bridge.
The challenge: the paving slab was only allowed to have a thickness of 9 cm. You never could build a layer this thin with ordinary reinforced concrete. The solution: solidian GRID carbon reinforcements! Due to our innovative product the around 200 m long carbon concrete bridge will be ready for its further passengers!

Carbon concrete in a clinker brick slips look
Three high-rise buildings with over 300 apartments will be wrapped with 30 mm thick carbon concrete façade panels. Such a thin concrete façade can’t be realized in the conventional way – but by using solidian GRID this is no problem. The special feature is the clinker brick slips look of the concrete façades. They shape the whole character of the building complex.

Carolabridge in Dresden
Carbon concrete is used for the first time for the restoration of a major bridge
The Carolabridge is an important element of Dresden’s city traffic. Over the years, however, environmental influences and weathering have taken such a toll on it that a thorough overhaul was unavoidable.
In this context, the bridge was also to be widened. During the construction work, those responsible used the solidian REMAT reinforcement mesh. It consists of individual carbon concrete bars that are linked to form a grid by means of injection-molded connection points. As it withstands numerous chemicals, salt water and other attacks, it is predestined for use in bridge construction. It is convincing wherever high loads occur and components are permanently exposed to aggressive environmental influences such as de-icing salts.

Neviges pilgrimage cathedral
New waterproof pneumatic mortar coating for Neviges pilgrimage cathedral
The pilgrimage cathedral in Neviges, which was opened in 1968 and designed by the well-known architect Gottfried Böhm, is exemplary for the construction method of so-called Brutalism. One disadvantage of the fair-faced concrete roof is that it leaked over time. A charming and at the same time innovative solution, which retains the character of the impressive air-faced concrete structure, is the renovation with a layer of carbon mortar of only 35mm thick.
By using the high-performance solidian ANTICRACK reinforcement, the crack widths can be kept small enough to create a waterproof layer. A special surface modification of the reinforcement makes it possible to create an extremely good bond in the applied pneumatic mortar. The reinforcement itself does not corrode and has a service life of over 100 years.

Pedestrian bridges in the Remstal
The world’s first integral wooden bridge with textile concrete
The special feature is the material combination of wood and carbon concrete. In the planning stage of these innovative bridge structures, the slimness and the high load-bearing capacity of the elements made of carbon concrete were decisive. The filigree shape of the only 80 mm thick bridge plates could only be achieved this way. In addition to the function of the sealing layer, the bridge decking panels provide a permanent roofing of the wooden structure and thereby significantly extend the lifecycle of the bridge.

Façade of Advancing Electronics Dresden Center
Refurbishment meets artistic concrete façade
The renovation, modernization as well as the extension of the laboratory building of the Center for Advancing Electronics at the Technical University of Dresden was needed. solidian GRID was used as a carbon reinforcement for the 30 mm thin curtain wall. Also, solidian carbon grid was the perfect solution fore photo-concrete façade as in the process the surface is chemically broken up using a grid of points and thus defined aggregates are effectively made visible.

Underground parking garage Marquardtbau Stuttgart
Extremely slim and durable restoration
KNAAK+REICH project office got the task to strengthen the structure of the underground car park and protect it from further corrosion. In order to burden it as little as possible, a way had to be found to save weight on the approximately 1,600 m² area. An in-situ concrete was necessary to create a protective layer over the steel girders and to create a level road surface to be coated. solidian GRID was the perfect solution for this project as it is light weight, doesn’t corrode and also serves to minimize the cracks in the concrete.
In the case of reinforced concrete, the structure would have had a total thickness of 9.5 cm (2 cm bottom ledge + 2 cm reinforcement + 5.5 cm concrete cover). With the use of carbon concrete, this could be reduced to 4 to 5 cm (2 cm underneath strips + a few millimeters of carbon reinforcement + 2 to 2.5 cm of concrete cover).

Bürgerspital Solothurn
Horizontal and vertical façadeart
Horizontal and vertical elements mounted firmly in front of the windows enclose the entire building. The combination between space and light was an essential point in the façade design.
This project would not have been possible with reinforced concrete due to its high weight. Therefore the carbon reinforcement solidian GRID was used. 700 filigree-looking, but nevertheless very massive elements were prefabricated in the prefabrication plant of Sulser AG. solidian accompanied the entire development process.

Road bridges in Albstadt-Pfeffingen/Margrethausen
A carbon bridge that can withstand cars, trucks and heavy loads
The decisive step towards demonstrating the outstanding properties of the new composite material carbon has been taken: The so far unique and future-oriented realization of the first two road bridges in Albstadt Margrethausen and Peffingen made of carbon concrete. They impressively demonstrate that this material can also be used effectively for structures with high load-bearing capacity requirements.

Pedestrian bridge Albstadt-Ebingen
The worldwide first pure carbon concrete bridge
A sensation – the first bridge made out of pure carbon concrete. This means that the bridge completely dispenses with reinforcing steel reinforcements and steel prestressing. But the pedestrian bridge is not only technologically sensational. In terms of the eco-balance, the construction is also ahead of an ordinary steel-reinforced bridge: 50 % less consumption of primary energy, with a simultaneous reduction in CO² emissions of 30 %!

Bosporous bridge
Cladding of the bridge pylons at a height of 320 m
For the façade panels used, which protect the building, a maximum panel weight of 110 kg / m² was required due to the substructure and handling at great heights. This cannot be achieved with conventional reinforced concrete. solidian engineers calculated the statics and developed the optimal geometry of the panels – maximum dimension of 3.0 m x 4.5 m and only 30 mm thin. With an optimal hybrid reinforcement made of glass and carbon mats, the desired parameters could finally be achieved.
